SCHEUER RESIDENCE

In their quest for a forever home, our client enlisted PSDW to design a compact waterfront residence in Bradenton, Florida. Sharing our belief that quality architecture should be accessible to everyone, the client challenged us to create a striking modern design within a modest budget.

The resulting 1,500-square-foot home is elevated above the flood plain, providing space for parking beneath the structure. To enhance the entry experience, guests are led through a central courtyard via a pathway under the elevated house.

The front planter, extending outward like a welcoming handshake, guides visitors from the property’s edge to its heart. This pathway is designed to create a journey filled with unique moments, framing sculptures and artwork to captivate and intrigue visitors.

The home's bold form maximizes views, directing sightlines past neighboring houses to the picturesque Bradenton River. As is our practice, we employed vertical cementitious wood-look siding, which adds a softer aesthetic while ensuring resilience against the harsh subtropical climate.
